Getting to Know your Map and Compass
The perfect opportunity to get to know your map and compass and learn the basics of how to use them to navigate in the outdoors.
Getting to know your Map and Compass is a great short introduction to Navigation skills.
Some of the things you will be introduced to include; estimating distances, map symbols, grid references and taking a bearing.
This will be a small group of 6 per instructor to enable you to get the most out of it.
A full day course like this would usually be £65+
Thanks to Cotswold Outdoor in Betws-y-Coed all participants will receive a free Trekmates Map Case, Compass and Whistle Set.
Only 6 places available each day so booking essential.
Suitable for beginners age 16+ (All under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult – you will need to book 2 places).
Walking distance – 2 – 3 miles
TBC – You walk leader will be a qualified Mountain Leader and experience navigation trainer.
Please dress appropriately for the weather including waterproofs and walking boots. Here is our recommended Kit List.
You may not be able to take part in your walk if you do not have appropriate kit.
Special equipment needed – No. All maps and compasses will be provided
Experience needed – No but if you have rusty navigation skills this would be a good refresher
Packed Lunch – optional, please bring water and snacks
You may not be able to join the course if you do not have suitable clothing and footwear.
