Date/Time: 31/07/2020 - 31/12/2021, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Location: Moel Siabod Cafe, Betws-y-Coed
Explore one of Snowdonias’ gems and climb Moel Siabod via the classic Daear Ddu ridge. At 872m it lacks the height of the peaks of the Snowdon and Carneddau massif but it makes up for this with the classic scramble of the east ridge.
Whether you are a novice scrambler or have experience and are looking for a bit of excitement the Daear Ddu offers this as we can choose our ascent based on your aspirations!
We head up from Pont Cyfnyg via the slate quarries to arrive at Llyn y Foel (the start of the ridge).
Here the real excitement starts as we ascend the Daear Ddu ridge. We start at around 550m and carefully pick our route up the ridge to summit Moel Siabod at 872m. From the summit we will see amazing panoramic views of Snowdonia National Park.
If the day is clear we will see over to Snowdon, The Glyders, Carneddau and the Moelwyns.
Our return route wil take us downhill north heading to Plas-y-Brenin Forest and back along the forest tracks to the start.
10.5 Km / 6.3 Miles
We want everyone to enjoy their challenge and reach the summit in their own time so will walk at a pace suitable for the whole group. It is important that the group stays together with the leader/s. Depending on numbers taking part groups may be split into smaller groups of similar pace and ability.
Please note that, although we would love to, we can’t promise clear skies on this day!
