Snowdon – Alzheimers Research UK
Date/Time: 05/08/2017, All Day Location: Snowdon, Llanberis
If you’re considering climbing Snowdon for the first time then this is your perfect opportunity to do it with a small, friendly, likeminded group, accompanied by friendly, professional guides to keep you happy, motivated and safe, whilst fundraising for an amazing cause.
Jayne has planned this charity trek after her father Joe died from Alzheimers in April last year. Her and her Mum decided they wanted to do something in his memory and have decided to ask you to join them on this momentum occasion.
Take the Llanberis Path to the summit of the highest mountain in Wales, stand at 1085 metres and enjoy the amazing views across Snowdonia with its rugged beauty. Fingers crossed for a clear day to see across Cwm Brwynoc, Llanberis and over the Menai Straits to Anglesey.
There are 6 main routes up Snowdon of which the Llanberis Path, although the longest, is thought to be the easiest. The path (although starting with a steep tarmac section which isn’t the best introduction to the mountain) climbs steadily uphill following the mountain railway. Paths are good all the way to the summit and suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Getting steeper, more uneven and more exposed as you get further towards the summit there are some rocky areas which can be quite hard going on the descent.
Distance: 9 miles
Time: 5-7 hours
Elevation gain: 945 metres
£10 from you entry fee will go to the charity.
There are is minimum fundraising amount for this event, however Jayne would like to raise £2000 for Alzheimers Research UK so any amount you could raise towards that would be a great help!
If you would like to contribute to Jayne’s fundraising for this event you can donate here.
